How often should you go to the dentist?

In order to keep up with your oral health, attending regularly scheduled dental cleanings is important. Dental cleanings help keep our teeth and gums free of bacteria and disease.

Regular dental cleanings remove the sticky layer of bacteria and plaque that builds up over time on our teeth and gums. To help at home, brushing and flossing is a great way to prevent the bacteria build up, but doing this cannot remove all of the bacteria and plaque like a dental cleaning can.

At East Peoria Dental, we recommend that our patients have their teeth cleaned at least twice a year. This helps to remove plaque, prevents gum disease, and allows us to keep an eye on your teeth, gums and mouth for any more serious issues. Our dental visits help to spot any issues such as cavities, receding gums, and oral cancer.

Our skilled staff will use special tools in order to clean your teeth and gums. If needed, x-rays will be taken and the dentist will meet with you to discuss the health of your teeth and gums. If any further treatment is needed, the dentist will discuss those details as well.

Regular dental visits are a great way to keep your teeth and gums looking and feeling healthy. Most insurance companies will cover dental cleanings twice a year. It is important to check with your insurance company to understand your coverage before you schedule your cleaning.

If you are interested in scheduling your next dental cleaning, contact East Peoria Dental today.
